Iran's first English TV channel goes on air

TEHRAN, Jul.01 (ISNA)-With the slogan of "News from another view", Iran will launch a new satellite English television channel "PRESS TV" on July 2nd.

The television channel aims at breaking the Western hold on the world's media by presenting an alternative and new view on global news when it goes on air on Monday with the presence of President Ahmadinejad and other high ranking officials.

Launched after the U.S. attack on Afghanistan and Iraq, "PRESS TV" focuses on presenting a third point of view for Western and English speaking audience regarding the Islamic world.

Offering a new point of view and presenting alternative global news are among the main goals of this channel.

Centered on political issues, PRESS TV programs hover on half hour news bulletins, reports, live talk shows and documentaries.

Launched 4 months ago, the channel's website has so far had about 2 million and 7 hundred visitors.
