TEHRAN, July 4 (Mehr News Agency) - Iran will become one of the world's wheat exporting countries by exporting two million tons of the product in the current Iranian year (started March 21), predicted the deputy commerce minister here on Wednesday.
Talking to MNA, Mohammad-Sadeq Mofatteh added that Iran will export the surplus wheat, adding the ministry is motivating the private sector to export the product.
He said that the wheat transportation expense will be paid by the government in a bid to decrease its cost price in the ports.
Mofatteh announced that Iraq was the first country that imported 100 tons of wheat from Iran, adding the Asian and North African countries will be the destinations the country exports its surplus wheat in 2007.
