TEHRAN, July 11 (ISNA)-Iran's ambassador to Iraq, Kazemi Ghomi, stated that U.S. and Iraqi officials welcomed the second round of talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the U.S. on Iraq.
"In my meeting with the Iraqi foreign minister, Hoshyar Zebari, he stated that the U.S. and Iraq welcomed the second round of these talks; but no date has been set yet," said Kazemi Ghomi.
This official regarding the state of the five kidnapped Iranian diplomats in Arbil and the recent torture rumors, noted that no report regarding the torture of these officials had been forwarded, but that he was aware they were not treated correctly when been interrogated.
When asked whether it was true that these diplomats had asked not to see their families or not, this official explained that the kidnapped diplomats had stated that they were not sure whether it would be safe for their families to come to Baghdad or not therefore they had rejected to see their families.
