Tehran, July 12, IRNA - Iranian and the IAEA officials made a breakthrough on drawing up a benchmark to settle the technical dispute, Under-Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Javad Vaeedi said on Thursday.
Vaeedi told IRNA at the end of the latest round of talks with the IAEA officials in Tehran that the two parties reached substantial agreement on composition of the benchmark.
The benchmark will envisage settlement of the technical dispute with the IAEA on Iranian nuclear program within 60 days.
"We divided subjects of the nuclear program into two parts -- the past and present," he said.
"We made breakthrough in both parts."
Iran, IAEA to continue talks next weeks: Heinonen
IAEA Safeguards Director Olli Heinonen said on Thursday that IAEA and Iran will continue talks on adopting a benchmark for settlement of technical dispute in coming weeks.
Heinonen said at the end of the latest round of talks with Iranian officials that the two parties have made progress to single out preferences to go ahead with resolving the technical dispute.
Asked about possible return of Iran's nuclear dossier from the UN Security Council to IAEA, he said that the issue depends on UNSC.
"The Council has its own criteria."
He said that the two parties reached agreement on part of the benchmark and negotiations will continue to work it out.
The benchmark will envisage settlement of technical dispute within 60 days.
