Tehran, July 16, IRNA - Managing Director of Pars Oil and Gas Company, Akbar Torkan, announced that the company is doing its best to inaugurate phase 9 of South Pars gas field by winter.
Torkan added that due to possible problems for gas supply during the cold season, Offshore Industries Engineering and Construction has promised to finish the job on phases 9 and 10 of South Pars gas field, PIN reported here on Monday.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony to sign contract for building two drilling rigs with SAF, the official noted that phases 6, 7, and 8 are also supposed to become operational before the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2008).
"Documents related to phases 22, 23, and 24 are ready to be delivered to contractors and they will forward their proposals one month after receiving the papers," he added.
Phases 9 and 10 of South Pars gas field are to produce 25 million cu.m. per day gas, 1,500 tons per day butane and propane (LPG 40), 1,000 barrels per day gas condensate, 1,350 tons per day ethane and 200 tons per day sulfur.
Total investment in three phases has been mentioned at about 3 billion dollars of which 11.5 percent pertains to platforms, 12.5 percent to pipeline, and 76 percent to construction of the refinery.
Development of South Pars phases 9 and 10 was approved by the High Economy Council in 2000 as the first finance project to be implemented for the huge South Pars gas field.
The contract for developing the phases was concluded in September 2002 with a consortium comprising Iran Offshore Engineering and Construction Company, South Korea's LG, as well as Petroleum Engineering and Development Company.
