Tehran, July 17, IRNA - Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Tuesday that the second round of talks between Iran and the US on Iraq's security might be held in the near future.
Mottaki made the remarks at a joint press conference with his Omani counterpart Yusuf Bin Alawi in Tehran.
The Iraqi officials have extended an invitation to Iranian delegation but "We have called on US officials to inform us through official channel that is Swiss embassy which takes care of US interests in Iran," he said.
Tehran is to give positive response to Washington's official request, underlined Mottaki.
On recent proposal made by IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei on direct talks between Iran and the US on the country's nuclear standoff, he said, "There is no doubt that we will study any proposals and will declare our decision publicly."
Mottaki said the US troops have prepared a plan to arrange a meeting between five kidnapped Iranian diplomates in Iraq and their families.
"Immediate release of five Iranian diplomats are on topic of our agenda and we spare no efforts to materialize the goal," he said.
On recent talks between Iranian officials and IAEA delegation in Tehran, he said the goal of the talks was to define a Modality Plan to help resolve remaining issues between Iran and IAEA.
The two sides agreed to continue cooperation based on mutual agreements, he said.
The IAEA inspectors are to carry out their timely and regular inspections, he said, adding that Tehran has no problem in continuing talks with IAEA.
"In our agreement with IAEA, we abide by Majlis ratification on NPT additional protocol," he said.
Mottaki termed the recent visit of Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Reza Baqeri to Yemen as being in line with the country's shuttle diplomacy aimed at expanding cooperation between Iran and Yemen.
The Iranian envoy carried a message from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for Yemen's president, he said.
Iran said the current problems in Yemen would be resolved through a sincere and brotherly diplomacy, Mottaki said, adding that Iran believes that high ranking Yemeni officials through good management and wisdom have resolved their internal issues successfully.
