Iran on Sunday said a claim by an Israeli daily against Tehran was a media game and propaganda.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini made the statement while pointing to a claim made by an Israeli paper that Iran has lured Syria to sell one billion dollars worth of arsenals, if Damascus refuses to establish peace with Israel.

He said the daily's claim has targeted good relations between Iran and Syria.

He pointed to recent visit by the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Syria and said, "During the visit, Iranian and Syrian officials discussed major regional issues including developments in Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine.

"They also exchanged views on bilateral ties and stressed the need for bolstering of economic and technical cooperation between Tehran and Damascus."

Advisor to President lambastes Israeli regime for fabricating stories

The president's senior advisor Mojtaba Samareh Hashemi on Sunday lambasted the Israeli regime for fabricating stories against Iran.

He said that the Israeli regime resorted to fabricating stories against Iran as a means to survive.

An Israeli newspaper has said in its latest story that Iran has put forward a proposal to Syria not to join the Middle East peace talks in return for dlrs one billion weapons sale.

"Our reply for them is that they cannot survive through propaganda against Iran."

Samareh Hashemi said that the Israeli regime has turned to a stumbling block for the Western democracy, because the Western governments always trampled upon the democratic values whenever the Israeli regime is a case.

He said that the Western governments have regularly defended the Israeli oppression against Palestinians blindly which brought disgrace to the Western democracy.

He said that the Western democracy has not gone far enough to respect rights of the Palestinian people in the eye of the world people.

"When we talk about the Israeli downfall, it means the Western democracy is falling down," he said, adding, "I am of the idea that Western governments should avoid interrelating its dignity with practices of the Zionists."
