Challenge For A Peaceful Future

Shahbanou Farah Pahlavi joins other prominent historical figureheads at The CHALLENGE FUTURE CONFERENCE - Bochum June 30th, 2007



On Saturday, June 30th, 2007, the Conference CHALLENGE FUTURE took place in Bochum. This conference's Patrons were Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Israel’s Vice-Prime Minister Shimon Peres, both Nobel Prize laureates, as well as the Lord Mayor of the City of Bochum, Dr. Ottilie Scholz.



National and international personalities were invited. They all have shown great interest in the effort to support a positive development of the future and committed themselves to this work.


The Conference took place in the „Jahrhunderthalle“ in Bochum and covered the following topics:


         Dialogue of cultures and religions – joining the multicultural world

         End of poverty – ways to justice in the world

         Europe's role in the world – Germany's role in Europe

         Strong children and women – strengthening children's and women's rights!

         Protection of the creation – a new approach to environment

         United Nations – uniting nations – acting jointly in solving international crises

         Artists as peace makers

The weekend conference in Bochum, Germany allowed a meeting and debate amongst prominent International personalities but also former heads of State and intellectuals from all 5 continents. Farah Pahlavi the former Shahbanou of Iran was amongst the prestigious personalities present and took the opportunity to express her wishes that the World and Democratic Media pay open attention to the pleads of the Iranian youth and of Iranian Women in particular. She also expressed hope to see more contacts and exchange between Iranians from Inside and outside her home country. It was also an occasion for the Former Empress of Iran very much active during her reign in encouraging Sports as a priority to insist on the importance of Sportsmen and Sportswomen in serving as role models to society and that this also implies a great sense of duty and responsibility for all concerned.


The two days conference which concluded on Sunday with a Concert by Latin American musician Santana and other celebrities was also an occasion for a friendly and enriching exchange between the Shahbanou and some of historical international icons of the last 30 years such as Mr. Lech Walesa, Mr. Desmond Tutu both Nobel Peace Prize Laureates who particularly appreciated the Shahbanou's presence and interest in the challenges of the youth in newly founded  Democratic States as Poland and South Africa.


Among the guests of the Conference were  politicians, scientists, intellectuals and artists, representatives of the media and – according to the Patrons' special wish – students and young people. All together more than 2000 participants from all parts of Europe participated.


The goal of this first Conference was to start a series of prestigious forums to be continued yearly.
