Iran, IAEA meet in Vienna, agree to continue talks in August

Tehran, July 24, IRNA - The Islamic Republic of Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) agreed on Tuesday to continue the next round of talks on Iran's peaceful nuclear activities in the second half of August in Tehran, an official said in Vienna.

Speaking to IRNA on condition of anonymity, he described today's talks in Vienna as 'constructive and developing'.

Today's meeting took about two hours where the two sides examined details of next round of talks, he pointed out.

Second round of talks between Iran and IAEA was held in Vienna on Tuesday.

Under-Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Javad Vaeedi and Iranian Ambassador to IAEA Ali Asghar Soltaniyeh were present in the meeting.

The meeting was aimed at drawing up a plan to clarify Iran's nuclear program.

A five-member delegation comprising technical, legal and political experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), led by its Safeguard chief Olli Heinonen visited Tehran on a three-day stay to hold second round of talks with senior Iranian nuclear officials.

The idea of drawing up the framework was put forward by the SNSC Secretary Ali Larijani while he was in Madrid, Spain, for talks with the European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana on Iran's peaceful nuclear program.
