Magnetic train project to boost Iran-Germany trade ties: Larijani

Tehran, June 6, IRNA - Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani said in Tehran Tuesday night a project on construction of a transrapid high-speed magnetic train in Iran by Germany would promote bilateral trade cooperation.

Larijani was speaking to reporters at Tehran Mehrabad International Airport upon returning from a seven-day visit to Europe.

Asked whether he had discussed the project with German officials taking into account the opposition of the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, he said, "We held talks with them in this regard and agreed to continue the talks in the future."

He added, "We will be happy if the project is implemented because Germany has a good technology. "This is a potential which both sides can use."

Larijani, however, stressed, "There are several other countries which can carry out the project... Other states including China have also the capability."
