TEHRAN, June 10 (Mehr News Agency) - EU Foreign Policy and Security chief Javier Solana has warned against any irrational move against Iran for its nuclear program, the Spanish official news agency EFE said in a report posted on its website on Friday.
Any "negative" move against Iran by the Security Council would be a "mistake", Solana told the EFE.
"I want the Western countries to adopt a proper approach in dealing with Iran's nuclear issue," Solana suggested.
He said if the West doesn't seek a proper solution for Iran's nuclear issue many problems will arise which might be "impossible to resolve."
In an earlier interview with the German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine, Solana has said the West should not expect an early settlement of the dispute over Iran's nuclear program.
He had told the paper that it seems that nuclear negotiations with Iran "needs a one-year time."
The main bone of contention between Tehran and the West is Iran's nuclear enrichment program. Iran is a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and therefore has the legal right to enrichment for civilian purposes.
