TEHRAN, June 9 (Mehr News Agency) - National Iranian Steel Company (NISC) Managing Director Mohammad-Rahim Rasti here Saturday said about two million tons of steel products were exported in the previous Iranian year (ended March 20, 2007).
By the end of the Fourth Five-Year Development Plan (2005-2010), domestic steel production is to exceed 28 million tons, of which some 6.5 million tons are produced by the NISC, he added.
With a 10m ton output, Iran is producing only one percent of world steel production - 1.13 billion tons. Thanks to the Fourth Plan, he said, Iran will boost its world share to 2.25 percent.
The managing director predicted Iran's annual steel production will hit 54,6m tons in 2021, equaling to 3.5 percent of the world output.
Talking to MNA, Assadollah Asgar-Owladi said that Iran's pistachio production will amount to 250 thousand tons, of which 95 percent will be exported.
Some 180 thousand tons of the product were produced in last Iranian year of which 165 thousand tons were exported to Russia, China, and European countries, he added.
The current year's pistachio exports will start on August 23.
Iranian Aluminium Co. and Bushehr Cement Co. would join the private sector by June 11 and 21 respectively, Seyyed Mehdi Oqadaii told MNA.
Petroleum Ministry and Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs had earlier agreed to privatize 120 subsidiaries of the Petroleum Ministry, of which 15 companies would be enlisted for the first stage of the project, he said.
A list of the companies would be handed in to the Privatization Organization by next Friday, added the official.
Talking to MNA, Abdolreza Rezaii-Hanjani added that the bilateral exports and imports in 2006 were not parallel.
He said that Russia's exports to Iran were valued at $1.07 billion while its imports stood at $180 million, fully benefiting Russia.
By leveling the trade, the Iran's imports and exports changed to $420 million and $240 million respectively, he added.
