TEHRAN, June 24 (Mehr News Agency) - Iran was crowned for the third time in the 4th West Asian Football Federation Championship with a 2-1 victory over Iraq in Amman, the capital of Jordan, Sunday.
Iranian striker Hossein Badamaki receiving a pass from Mehdi Rajabzadeh poked home with a powerful left kick in the 13th minute.
The second came seven minutes later when Hashem Beigzadeh cleared his marker to fire home with a low drive from behind the box.
Iran possessed the ball and field until the 61st minute when midfielder Iman Mob'ali was sent off for his second bookable offense.
The Iraqi side made scores of attacks on Iran woodwork and minimized the gap four minutes from normal time through Saleh Sabri who converted a penalty kick.
Keeper Hassan Rudbarian made world-class saves throughout the game to help Iran lift the trophy.
