TEHRAN, June 25 (Mehr News Agency) – Bushehr power plant in southern Iran will start generating 1,000MW electricity in October, Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) announced in Tehran Monday.

"Bushehr power plant is to switch on with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts in October, bringing this year's total power generation of new plants to 6,000 megawatts," Iran Energy Minister Parviz Fattah told the reporters.

The minister said domestic hydroelectric power plants are now producing 1,150 megawatts and the hydropower will be boosted by Masjed Soleiman Molla Sadra plants with 1,000MW capacity each.

The capacity of power plants run by nongovernmental sector totals to 680 megawatts, added Parviz Fattah, vowing to triple the output.

He predicted power consumption will touch 36,500 megawatts in August, keeping in view the June's 34,000 megawatt consumption.
