TEHRAN, June 26 (Mehr News Agency) - The Pars Special Economic Energy Zone Organization reported on Tuesday that Iran stood third in the world's gas consumption rankings and finished fourth in producing gas in 2006.
Iran's gas consumption in the previous year amounted to 109 billion cubic meters, showing an 11.4 percent rise when compared to the figure of its preceding year.
Of the figure, 162.1 million cubic meters of gas consumption are related to the household, subsidiary industries, and commercial consumption and 39.6 million cubic meters to main industries, showing 19.5 and 8.8 percent rises respectively.
Iran stood third to Russia and the United States.
Talking to MNA, the MPO's Welfare and Social Security Director General Jahangir Fadaii added that totally $48.6 billion worth of subsidy was allotted to energy, basic goods, service, agriculture, medicine, publication, and paper sectors during the yearlong period.
