TEHRAN, March 7 (Mehr News Agency) - Iranian automakers' production in the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2006-March 20, 2007), is expected to go beyond one million vehicles, Minister of Industries and Mines Alireza Tahmasbi announced in Tehran on Wednesday.
The minister added, "Producing over 500 thousand vehicles, SAIPA will rank first."
SAIPA is going to unveil its new product, S81 next Iranian year and is planning to export some part of the brand abroad, Tahmasbi said in his speech in a ceremony held for the 41st establishment anniversary of the company.
"Employing Iranian human resources and experts, SAIPA could introduce two new products every year and win the cooperation of the world's leading auto producers," the Iranian minister who was accompanied by his Venezuelan counterpart maintained.
He expressed satisfaction over the 10-percent growth in the nation's auto production in the current year, saying that Iran's vehicle production is more than that of Australia and three times Indonesia's.
Iran's auto industry produces about four percent of the nation's gross domestic product (GDP), accounting for some 3.5 percent of the country's industrial employment by hiring some 500,000 people, the official added.
