TEHRAN, March 10 (Mehr News Agency) - Tehran will offer Russia a new proposal to resolve the financial problems over the transfer of nuclear fuel for the Bushehr nuclear power plant, Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Deputy Director Mohammad Saeedi said here on Saturday.
"There is no legal and technical... problem for the transfer of nuclear fuel," Saeedi told the Mehr News Agency.
Russia, which is building Iran's first nuclear power plant, has suggested that Moscow may delay delivering nuclear fuel for the station due to problems in receiving payment from the Islamic Republic.
Saeedi dismissed reports that Iran-Russia talks over the Bushehr plant have failed, saying that the discussions will continue next week in Tehran.
"We hope that Moscow will start up the Bushehr plant in September, and transfer fuel six months before the startup at the end of March, based on the previous contracts," he said.
"According to the new proposal, Iran is prepared to pay even more money provided that the plant will be started up by the agreed time," he added.
