TEHRAN, March 12 (Mehr News Agency) -- Literati and literature lovers will come together in the historical Iranian city of Shiraz on March 21 to celebrate World Poetry Day concurrently with the beginning of new Iranian year.
Iranian professors Hossein Payandeh, Hossein-Ali Nozari, Saber Emami, Parvin Salajeqeh, Mohammad Dehqani, Mehdi Zarqani, and Manijeh Abdollahi have been invited to deliver speeches at the ceremony, the secretary Kavus Hassan-Ali told reporters in Shiraz on Sunday.

The President of Foundation to Study Fars Saeid Zahedi, for his part, stressed the necessity of welcoming such event by Iranians who are aware of the status of their literature in the world.
"We need to depend on our cultural heritage and try to promote it as much as possible," he noted.
He believes that the ceremony is potential to be held internationally in Shiraz, the capital of the Fars Province.
"Literary figures in Fars Province have been famous and popular during the history and literary unions in Shiraz have long records which should be introduced."
According to Zahedi, Shiraz is a treasure trove of mysticism, calligraphy, and linguistics.
