Celebration of Charshahbe Soori ( Fire Festival) by Iranian community at Toronto

More than 10,000 Iranians from babies to seniors, gathered at Mel Lastman Square on March 13, 2007 to celebrate the traditional Charshanbe Soori. The community enjoyed the advantage of early spring weather with dancing and fire works outdoors.
Sherrly Carrol Don Valley East councilor ,  Kathleen Wynne , Ontario education Minister and David Cohen Richmond Hill Councilor were among the dignitaries who addressed the community and were welcomed by the community at large for their support and Reza Moridi a hopeful MPP candiate for Rcihmond Hill.
The event was from 6:30 to 10 pm and it began with the playing of the Canadian anthem and followed by a well known Iranian song.
The event was organized by the Fire Festival committee which include the Iranian students of the University of Ryerson, Toronto and York, , Persian Circle, Toronto Iranians group, the poetry club called Shabi ba doostan, the Centre for Thought, Dialogue and Human Rights in Iran, and Mehdi Pourian , H.MoshkForosh  and A. Mardokhi.
With a minimum possible budget they made this event possible so we thank them for their support. We would also like to thank the city of Toronto and the police because without their support the event would not have been made possible.
