Canada's first nationwide pro-Iranian interests lobby group - Freedom Is Not Free - has initiated an antiwar campaign.
The risk of war and violence against Iran and its people is growing. Against a backdrop of increasingly hostile attitudes toward the Middle East and a coalition of Western leaders and lobby groups propagating anti-Iranian rhetoric, a campaign for peace and positivity was born.
Launched in March 2007, the "10,000 Against War Campaign" is an initiative seeking 10,000 signatures from concerned Canadians unified under an anti-war umbrella. We are collectively and democratically protesting against the possibility of atrocity and violence against the sovereign nation of Iran and its people.
The petition of 10,000 signatures will be presented to all levels of Canadian government - the Prime Minister's Office, the Senate, the House of Commons, and Parliament - with a particular emphasis on the federal Conservatives. With the democratic clout of the petition, Freedom Is Not Free will insist that the decision-making bodies of Canadian government:
The seriousness of the threat of violence against Iran and its people has now reached a threshhold that demands our moral attention.
Should we fail to effecively raise our voices for peace and positivity, to visibly scream and shout against the possibility of atrocity, we will have made public how little we care for peace and humanity.
