Iran gives green light to $3b foreign investment

TEHRAN - The Organization for Investment, Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran has issued permits for five foreign investment plans worth $3.019 billion from March 21 to April 21.

The projects included the production of car seat, cheese, polyethylene bag and polypropylene gunnysack, and liquefied natural gas (LNG), which are invested by France, Republic of Azerbaijan, the Netherlands, and Spain.

Metal exports fetched Iran over $2b in 2006

TEHRAN, April 29 (Mehr News Agency) - Iran exported $2,015,699,000 worth of basic metals in last Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20, 2007), the Customs Administrations reported on Sunday.

The figure showed a 27.2 percent rise when compared to that of its preceding year.

Metals accounted for nine percent and 12.8 percent of non-oil exports in terms of weight and value respectively in the yearlong period.

Totally 3,025,726 tons of metals were exported last year which, showing a 2.8 percent rise.

The country earned $1,100,329,000 through exports of iron and steel, indicting a 4.2 percent growth.

After iron and steel, copper ingot, copper products, and aluminum were the main metals exported in the previous year.

Iran keen to cooperate with Repsol, Shell, Total

Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) is eager to cooperate with Spain's Repsol, France's Total, and Royal Dutch Shell on the South Pars (SP) phases 11, 13, and 14, said Monday the Head of the IOEC's Project Management and Planning Dept.

Talking to MNA, Majid Shamlu said Iran had participated in the phases' tender, adding that Iran is keen to cooperate with Royal Dutch company Shell on Phase 11 and with Spain's Repsol and France's Total on phases 13-14.

Tehran-Bangkok flights to increase

Iran and Thailand will increase the number of Tehran-Bangkok flights, said Iran's deputy minister of road and transportation and the head of the Iran's Civil Aviation Organization on Monday.

Meeting the Thai Transportation Minister Tira Hao Charoen in Bangkok, Hossein Khanlari announced Iran's readiness to cooperate Thailand in the transportation sector.

There were five flights in the airline which will be increased.

Iran's iron ore concentrate output to hit 17m tons

Iran's Gol Gohar Mining and Industrial Company's capacity of iron ore concentrate production will reach 17 million tons, said the Iranian Mineral Production & Supplying Company's (IMPASCO) managing director on Monday.

Talking in a ceremony to introduce new managing director of the company, Ardeshir Sa'd-Mohammadi said that the mine will become the biggest iron ore producer in near future.

Gol Gohar Mining and Industrial Company is in Kerman Province, southeastern Iran.

Iran's alloy steel exports to hit 72,000 tons by 2010

Iran Alloy Steel Company's exports will reach 72 thousand tons by the end of Fourth Five-Year Socioeconomic Development Plan, 2010, said the company's research and development manager on Monday.

Talking to Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), Ali-Asghar Khabiri pointed to the annual 200 thousand tons of light rolling production, saying that the company's capacity of heavy rolling products is 240 thousand tons per year.

Iran's 2006 crude oil output up

Iran's average crude oil output in last Iranian year (ended on March 20) was about 4.057 million barrels, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted the Oil Ministry as reporting on Monday.

Given the figure, the crude oil output showed a 36 thousand barrel rise when compared to the figure of its preceding year.
