– The Iranian Scholarship Foundation (ISF) today announced that its annual
Fundraising Gala, held in Redwood City on April 15, 2007, surpassed expectations
and successfully raised over $400,000.
The Iranian Scholarship Foundation
undergraduate fund provides scholarships of up to $10,000 to qualified
undergraduate Iranian-American Students studying at or entering a four year
college in the United States
who are in need of financial assistance.
“I am pleased to announce that our
major fundraising event this year was very successful and we look forward to
supporting more students than last year”, said ISF Chair of the Board of
Trustees Azadeh Hariri. She added:
“This year our keynote speaker was Iranian poet and
satirist Mr. Hadi Khorsandi who, with his excellent wit, helped us to surpass
our fundraising goal of $400K. In
honor of his assistance and support for ISF, the Executive Committee has decided
to name a 2007 Scholarship “The
Hadi Khorsandi Scholarship for Excellence in Community Service.”
The Hadi Khorsandi’s Excellence in
Community Service Scholarship will be awarded to a student who has shown
dedication and a proven record of community service beyond expectation. This
student must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
This specific scholarship is not necessarily
need-based.
Azadeh Hariri notes “Since the
Iranian Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit 501C-3 registered organization,
our scholarship programs are run entirely by volunteers, and we have no paid
employees, 100% of the donations received will go towards scholarships to
students.” She added, “Last year we supported 35 students all
over United States and this year, we are hoping to make more grants and support
more scholars in need.

the same site and submit it by the deadline of May 31,

Foundation
The Iranian
Scholarship Foundation was formed in June
2005 to provide scholarships to talented Iranian-American
students in need of financial support. The ISF undergraduate scholarships are
open to Iranian-American youth who are
accepted into undergraduate programs of a four-year college in the United States and are in need of
financial assistance. These students must
maintain a 3.5 grade point average to receive a grant of up to $10,000 per year. The Iranian Scholarship Foundation
is a non-profit 501C-3 organization registered with the IRS and the State of
California. All donations made to the Iranian
Scholarship Foundation are tax deductible.
The ISF has no paid employees and is a fully volunteer-run
organization.
