“I am pleased to announce that our major fundraising event this year was very successful and we look forward to supporting more students than last year”, said ISF Chair of the Board of Trustees Azadeh Hariri. She added: “This year our keynote speaker was Iranian poet and satirist Mr. Hadi Khorsandi who, with his excellent wit, helped us to surpass our fundraising goal of $400K. In honor of his assistance and support for ISF, the Executive Committee has decided to name a 2007 Scholarship “The Hadi Khorsandi Scholarship for Excellence in Community Service.”
The Hadi Khorsandi’s Excellence in Community Service Scholarship will be awarded to a student who has shown dedication and a proven record of community service beyond expectation. This student must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher. This specific scholarship is not necessarily need-based.
Azadeh Hariri notes “Since the Iranian Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit 501C-3 registered organization, our scholarship programs are run entirely by volunteers, and we have no paid employees, 100% of the donations received will go towards scholarships to students.” She added, “Last year we supported 35 students all over United States and this year, we are hoping to make more grants and support more scholars in need.
