Iranian FM: Talks with Rice under study

TEHRAN, May 2 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki said here on Wednesday that holding talks with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on the sidelines of Sharm el-Sheikh Conference is under study. "No firm decision has been made in this case yet," Mottaki told the Mehr News Agency correspondent traveling with him on a visit to Oman.

According to AFP, Rice on Wednesday said she was prepared to discuss "any question" if she holds talks with her Iranian counterpart at the Iraq conference in Egypt which is to gather the country's neighbors and world powers from May 3 to 4.

"I think I could handle any question as asked," Rice told reporters traveling with her to the conference in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

She indicated she would be prepared to discuss subjects other than Iraq at the conference with Mottaki, including the standoff over Iran's nuclear program.
