Oil giants rush to purchase Iran blocks documents

TEHRAN, May 5 (Mehr News Agency) - "Fourteen oil giants have so far purchased the tender documents of 17 Iranian oil blocks," said a National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) official here Saturday.

Hossein Roshandel, NIOC deputy director for exploration affairs, added 62 information packages have been purchased.

The Anglo-Dutch Shell, France's Total, Brazil's Petrobras, Malaysia's Petronas, Spain's Repsol, and Austria's OMV were among the bidders, said the official, however refusing to name the purchasers.

Roshandel said at least 450 million is needed for exploratory operations.

Of the blocks, five are offshore and 12 onshore, spreading across nine provinces in a 129,000km area.

Quchan, Naft-Shahr, Ilam, Danan, Fassa, Bandar Abbas, Razi, Maraveh, Tappeh, Moghan 1 and 2, Kavir, Alvand, Ferdowsi, Laleh, Taban, and Deir constitute the 17 blocks.

Companies may purchase tender documents at varying prices, but the maximum price is 38 thousand.

Iran expects to attract 46 million for the blocks, Roshandel said.

Iran introduced 17 oil blocks for exploration and development during a February meeting in the Austrian capital Vienna.

Petrochemical exports to earn Iran $6B this year

TEHRAN, May 5 (Mehr News Agency) -- The managing director of Iran Petrochemical Commercial Co. (IPCC) said the country is planning to earn five to six billon dollars through exports in the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2007).

Exports of petrochemical products in the past year hit $3.03 billion that is indicative of a 31 percent increase when compared to that of its preceding year.

"We intend to increase Iran's share of the world's petrochemical market this year," said the official, adding that products of the IPCC are exported to all over the world.

"Within our long-term contracts, a large portion of our products has already been purchased," he said.

Iran's Foruzan pipes concrete-coating to start soon

TEHRAN, May 5 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) will start coating the pipes of Foruzan oilfield within the next 20 days, said the project manager on Saturday.

The project will be carried out in the Khorramshahr yard in three months, Soheil Dilfanian added.

The pipes and other equipment have been ordered, said the manager, adding the pipes will be transferred to the yard in the near future.

After the concreting operation, the C-master vessel will lay the pipes to link Kharg Island to Foruzan field in a 102km route, he said.

By transferring the associated gases to Kharg Island in southern Iran, Foruzan and Esfandiar oilfields are expected to increase the daily crude oil production to 125 thousand barrels and gas output to 258 million cubic feet, Dilfanian added.
