Spring has been rather strange in Tehran as the weather has been playing up most of the time and at times being really crazy. We have had some windy days, cold and rainy days as well as the odd warm ones. In the last couple of weeks, there was a series of massive thunderstorms and torrential rain and hailstorms that made everyone wonder where they were, was this really Tehran?
But the weather now seems set for the summer, and within a week of switching off the central heating we have had to start using the air condition. Yesterday we were up on the roof cleaning the pumps and filters to keep us cool and comfortable if the heat wave stays on.
Very often one can find something interesting and even a little out of the ordinary in Tehran. On a sunny Friday last week, we were invited by the African Diplomatic Ladies Group to a charity bazaar to raise money for cancer charities in Tehran.
The bazaar was held in the garden of the residence of one of the African ambassadors. The colourful ladies from the African embassies and consulates ran stalls and cooked food. Many interesting items were on display for the guests to buy.
For us the colourful African fashion and people were more than enough to make us happy and have a good time. The lively music and the food just added to our enjoyment, even though we did not win anything at the raffle.
Jaye shoma khali (your places were empty) and here are some photographs for you to share.
