TEHRAN, May 8 (Mehr News Agency) -- A number of world experts on Persian literature and Iranian scholars are scheduled to commemorate Omar Khayyam in Neyshabur on May 18, which marks the national day of the great Iranian poet.
The event will open with a speech by the Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, said the secretary of the ceremony.
Mohammad-Mehdi Mojdi noted that the day will begin with the casting of flowers on Khayyam's grave and the ringing of school bells in the province.
Abdulaziz Sachedina, the Islamic studies professor of the University of Virginia, Osman Nazir from Tajikistan, and Jamshid Qanbari the director of the Astronomy Association of Iran, are among the guests that have been invited.
An exhibition of photographs, showing places of interest in Neyshabur, will be on display in Neyshabur Garden and also at the House of Photographers in Tehran.
