Supreme Leader calls for expansion of ties among Persian speaking countries

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called on Tuesday for more solidarity among Persian speaking countries as a factor for bolstering their domestic capabilities. Khamenei made the remarks while receiving the visiting Tajik President Imomali Rakhmon on Tuesday.

At the meeting, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the Persian speaking countries should reinforce their ties in order to demonstrate their capabilities.

Given deeply rooted cultural and historical bonds between Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan, the Supreme Leader underlined that the inherent capabilities of nations would bring development and authority for them, leading to consolidation of ties among those who share common religions, culture, history and civilization.

Islam is key to unity among Islamic countries, Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that If unity among world Muslims is materialized, the Islamic Ummah would find the opportunity to uplift their status in the world and attain more advancement and development.

Referring to ample grounds for expansion of ties between Iran and Tajikistan, the Supreme Leader said Tajikistan is an integral part of Iranian culture and expansion and bolstering of mutual relations is on the agenda of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Tajik president, on his part, said Iran's development and its high capabilities are a source of pride for the Tajik people.

The enemies of Islam and the Islamic Republic of Iran cannot tolerate to witness expansion of ties between countries of the region and the Islamic Republic, he said, adding that Iran's advancement and its policy of forging unity is a source of honor for the region and Muslim world.

Expressing satisfaction with increased investment made by Iranian companies in Tajikistan, he said further promotion of economic cooperation particularly the connection of Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan through railway would benefit Central Asian countries and China and would provide them access to Persian Gulf and international waters.
