Tehran, 13 May 2007 (CHN)- By providing the necessary equipments, salvation center of Bam Citadel will start its activities for reconstruction of the governor district of the citadel.
Ancient Bam Citadel is one of the biggest adobe monuments in the world which according to experts, dates back to Sassanid dynastic era (224-651 AD), but the exact time of its construction is still unknown.
"Some equipments such as conveyors are required to remove debris. As soon as these equipments are provided, the project will come into force", said Eskandar Mokhtari, head of Bam Citadel Salvation Center.
Pointing to large destruction of the governor section due to the earth quake, Mokhtari said that the salvation project and preserving it would be very dangerous and some special plans should be designed to prevent landslide during activities.
According to Mokhtari some 250,000 US Dollars is needed for preparing these equipments, removing debris, and for preserving the ruling center.
Located in Kerman province, southeastern Iran, 2000-year-old Bam Citadel was the largest adobe monument of the world. On December 26, 2003 Bam Citadel and most of the city of Bam were devastated by an earthquake.
