Iran: Inflation rate hits 16.2%

TEHRAN, Nov. 12 (Mehr News Agency) - The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) reported here Monday inflation rate stood at 16.2 percent in the last 12 months leading to Oct. 22, 2007.

The price index of consumer goods and utilities in urban areas in the Iranian calendar month of Mehr (from Sept. 23-Oct. 22) had a 1.5 percent increase when compared to that of its previous month and an 18.1 percent hike from the figure of the corresponding period in its preceding year.

The report shows inflation rate rose to 12.8 percent in Farvardin (Mar. 21-Apr. 20, 2007), to 13.6 percent in Ordibehesht (Apr. 21-May 21), to 14.2 percent in Khordad (May 22-Jun. 21), to 14.8 percent in Tir (Jun. 22-Jul. 22), to 15.4 percent in Mordad (Jul. 23-Aug. 22), and to 15.4 percent in Sharivar (Aug. 23-Sept.22).
