Out of 246 MPs who cast their votes, 217 voted in favor of Gholam-Hossein Nozari for the post of oil minister, 20 against, and nine abstained.
Meanwhile, Ali-Akbar Mehrabian, the nominee for the post of industries and and mines minister, secured vote of confidence from Majlis by gaining 174 votes in favor, 49 against and 18 abstentions.
President Ahmadinejad, in two separate letters to Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel on October 31, introduced Nozari and Mehrabian as his nominees for the posts.
In this morning's Majlis session, the president spoke for an hour in defense of his nominees followed by four MPs -- two proponents and two opponents -- who each had 15 minutes to explain their views defending or opposing the nominees.
The two nominees also had 30 minutes each to defend their plans and programs after.
The two replaced Alireza Tahmasbi and Seyed Kazem Vaziri-Hamaneh on August 12, 2007.
