Winners of Tehran Short Film Festival announced

TEHRAN, Nov. 19 (Mehr News Agency) -- The winners of the 24th Tehran National and 12th International Short Film Festival (Nov.13 -18) were announced on Sunday.

Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad-Hossein Saffar Harandi, Deputy Culture Minister for Cinematic Affairs Mohammadreza Jafari-Jelveh, together with national and international jury members and a group of artists attended the closing ceremony which took place in the Andisheh Hall of Tehran's Art Bureau.

Majid Shah-Hosseini from Iran, Joao Garcao Borges from Portugal, Firas Dehni from Germany and Andrzej Bednarek from Poland made up the international jury.

Maziar Miri, Abdollah Alimorad, Kamal Tabrizi and Mohammadreza Sokut were the Iranian jury members of the national section.

In the national section, the best research award went to Piruz Kalantari for the documentary "Tehran Several Richter Scale" and the best screenplay award went to "Horn" by Ruhollah Masrur.

The best documentary award went to "Siyanozeh" by Rokhsareh Qaem-Maqami and best experimental film award went to "Alternation" by Mehdi Fard-Qaderi.

"Closer Than Breath" by Parivash Nazarieh won the best short film award and "Cage" by Vahid Nasirian won the best animation award.

In the international section, "A Perfect Place" by Elena Solodkova from Russia won the best animation award and "Ela" by Silvana Aguirre Zegarra from the United Kingdom won the best fiction award.

"Ark" by Grzegorz Jonkajtys from Poland and "The Lost Doll" by Moin Samadi from Iran shared the best experimental award.

The Tehran Short Film Festival was sponsored by the Iranian Young Cinema Society (IYCS).
