America Needs A Pro-Peace President

Press Release, Iranian-American Committee For Kucinich (IACK), November 5, 2007

Dennis Kucinich: “Wake up America, there is another war being planned.  Think about it…without a single hearing on Iran in this Congress.”  “We can bomb the world to pieces but we can’t bring peace to the world!”

The Iranian-American Committee for Kucinich (IACK) is proud to endorse Dennis Kucinich in the 2008 Presidential Campaign. At this critical juncture when the White House, and the majority in Congress are beating the drums of war against Iran, the support of peace-loving Iranians and Americans for Dennis Kucinich, the leading voice in the U.S. Congress for a just peace in the war-torn Middle East and for true economic and social progress at home, is vital.   “After the lies and deception used to lead us to war in Iraq,” Candidate Kucinich says,  “Bush’s deliberate and calculated comments are setting the stage for more chaos in the world and in the process are making the United States less safe.”

On the issue of Iran’s nuclear program, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mohammad El Baradei, in his latest presentation stated that he “hasn’t seen any concrete evidence that there is a clandestine, secret nuclear program under way in Iran.”  Intent on wrecking the cooperation of the Iranian government with the Agency, George W. Bush resorted to the Mother of All scare tactics and suggested launching WWIII.  Once again, it was Kucinich who had the courage to say that Congress must stand up to the President’s dangerous rhetoric on Iran.  To strengthen the legitimacy and credibility of a vital agency of the United Nations and put a brake on the administration’s war drive, Kucinich reminded the U.S. Congress that the administration needs to heed the advice of the IAEA Director.

“Bush’s deliberate and calculated comments are nothing more than an attempt to deceive Americans into yet another war—this time with Iran.”  Kucinich is the only Democratic Presidential candidate who voted against the original war authorization in 2002 and every supplemental war- funding appropriations bill since. His votes in Congress indicate that he would be a leader who directs the resources of the economy toward meeting the social needs of our nation.  This is why we say the only Presidential Candidate who has the wisdom, courage, and tenacity to right the wrongs is Kucinich.

Our nation is in serious trouble.  We need Dennis, an honest and experienced leader who rejects war, gunboat diplomacy and sanctions as instruments of U.S. foreign policy, and upholds the Constitution of the United States.

Please join the committee to defend Iran and support Dennis Kucinich for President.
