Kish Island, Nov 29, IRNA - Iraq ambassador to Tehran in a meeting with Kish Free Trade Zone (KFTZ) managing director Majid Shayesteh considered ways of bilateral cooperation in the island here Wednesday.
In the meeting, Shayesteh said, "The two nations of Iran and Iraq have plenty of interests to develop political, cultural and trade ties."
He added, "Many tourists from neighboring countries visit the beautiful island of Kish annually and we are ready to welcome Iraqi tourists, too."
Shayesteh also said, "Holding different trade exhibitions in an international level in the KFTZ is an excellent opportunity for the Iraqi businessmen.
Even athletic facilities in the island is suitable for Iraq national teams to establish their training camps here, the Iranian official continued.
He added, "Iraqi students can continue their studies here in different universities of the island in different majors such as medicine and engineering."
Mohammad Majid al-Sheikh, for his part, said, "There are good facilities in the beautiful island of Kish."
The Iraqi ambassador added, "2,500 Iranian pilgrims enter into Iraqi soil daily. Connecting rail road between Khorramshahr port in Iran and Basra port in Iraq, transferring oil and gasoline from Abadan in Iran to Basra and selling 250 mega watts electricity daily to Iraq are the suitable grounds for expanding ties between the two countries.
He expressed hope that with good will of the senior officials of both countries, the relations between Iran and Iraq will be promoted more than ever in different fields.
