French actress Catherine Deneuve will be honored
for her career at the Los Angeles Film Festival next month. The 63-year-old star
will be the subject of a tribute along with US actress Laura Linney (who shared the
screen with Shohreh Aghdashloo
in The Exorcism of Emily
Rose) .
Festival director Christian Gaines
said both stars "embody the raw promise of a fine performance".
The
American Film Institute event, which runs from 1 to 11 November, opens with
Lions For Lambs, starring Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep.

A screening of Persepolis, an animated
film for which Deneuve provides the lead voice, will follow the tribute.
Linney's latest release, The Savages, will also be shown at the event.

Deneuve, whose credits include Belle
de Jour and Dancer In the Dark, was nominated for an Oscar in 1993 for her role
in Indochine and has won two Cesars - France's equivalent of the Academy
Awards.
Last year she won a lifetime
achievement award at the Bangkok Film Festival.
Linney, who has had two Oscar
nominations (Kinsey and You Can Count On Me) ,co-starred in The Truman Show
alongside Jim Carrey.
On the small screen she played Mary
Ann Singleton in Tales of the City.
