Hakim returns to Iraq in full health

TEHRAN, Oct. 10 (Mehr News Agency) - The Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council Chairman Abdul-Aziz al-Hakim has returned to his homeland in full health after receiving a 4-month treatment for lung cancer in Tehran, an informed official said on Wednesday.
"Hakim's treatment period concluded and he returned to Baghdad on Wednesday in full health," a representative of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Majed Ghamas, told the Mehr News Agency.
Asked about whether Hakim would revisit the Islamic Republic to undergo treatment, he said the treatment period has been finalized.
The Iraqi leader might visit Iran occasionally but the time of his next trip has yet to be specified.
It is also likely that the treatment would be pursued from Baghdad, Ghamas added.
After receiving the diagnosis at a Texas hospital in the United States, Hakim headed to Iran on May 20 for lung cancer treatment. He chose treatment in Iran rather than the U.S. because he wanted to be close to his country. Proper treatment was not available in Iraq.
