Hakim returns to Iraq in full health
TEHRAN, Oct. 10 (Mehr News Agency) - The Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council
Chairman Abdul-Aziz al-Hakim has returned to his homeland in full health after
receiving a 4-month treatment for lung cancer in Tehran, an informed official
said on Wednesday.
"Hakim's treatment period concluded and he returned
to Baghdad on Wednesday in full health," a representative of the Supreme Iraqi
Islamic Council, Majed Ghamas, told the Mehr News Agency.
Asked about whether Hakim would revisit the Islamic
Republic to undergo treatment, he said the treatment period has been finalized.
The Iraqi leader might visit Iran occasionally but
the time of his next trip has yet to be specified.
It is also likely that the treatment would be
pursued from Baghdad, Ghamas added.
After receiving the diagnosis at a Texas hospital
in the United States, Hakim headed to Iran on May 20 for lung cancer treatment.
He chose treatment in Iran rather than the U.S. because he wanted to be close to
