Muslims hold Fitr Prayers around the world

On the occasion of Eid-al-Fitr (marking end of Ramadhan), Muslims from different parts of the world held Fitr Prayers on Saturday, while many Muslims held the prayers on Friday upon sighting the new moon which means starting of the next month of Arabic calender Shawal.

-- China: Millions of Chinese Muslims gathered in the mosques and held Fitr Prayers on Saturday.

Eid-al-Fitr, which is one of the most important feasts of the Islam, is a holiday in China for Chinese Muslims.

According to the official statistics, China has 21 million Muslims.

The Chinese Muslims have special ceremony for holding this Eid.

-- Japan: Muslims in different parts of Japan held Fitr Prayers on Saturday.

In Tokyo, the prayers was held in the residence of Iran's ambassador.

-- Azerbaijan Republic: Iranians residing in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan Republic, held Fitr Prayers on Saturday.

The Azeri government has declared 4-day holiday for the occasion.

-- Turkmenistan: Turkmen Muslims, after one month of fasting, held their Fitr Prayers on Saturday.

The prayers leaders all around the country spoke about virtues of the fasting month of Ramadhan and called on Muslims to continue their worship in the other months, too.

-- Lebanon: Iranians residing in Lebanon held their Fitr Prayers on Saturday in the venue of Iran's embassy in Beirut.

-- Turkey: Iranians living in Ankara and Istanbul held Fitr Prayers on Saturday in the embassy compound and general consulate building.

-- Syria: Syrian Muslims as well as Muslims from other countries, including Iranian pilgrims to the Shia's holy shrines in Syria, held their prayers on Saturday.

-- France: Muslims residing in Paris held the Fitr Prayers in the Paris Grand Mosque.

French Muslim Council, as the Muslim representative before France government, declared Friday that Saturday is the beginning of the Shawal month and then the day of Eid-al-Fitr.

According to the official statistics, France has 5 million Muslims, who are mostly immigrants from Africa.

-- South Africa: Muslims in the South Africa Republic gathered on Saturday in the Mosques and held Fitr Prayers.

In the Mosque " Al-Rasoul" the prayer leader called on Muslims around the world to maintain their unity and solidarity and pray for freedom of Mosque Al-Aqsa from the Zionist occupiers.

South African President Thabo Mbeki in a message felicitated the occasion of Eid-al-Fitr to the country's Muslim.

-- Austria: The Fitr Prayers was held in Vienna and a big crowd of Muslim worshipers including Austrian, Iranian, Turks, Arabs, Afghans, and Pakistanis gathered in the "Imam Ali Center" here on Saturday.

-- Moscow: Iranians residing in Moscow celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday.
