Tehran, Oct 15, IRNA - In the course of a visit to Tehran of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, four letters of understanding and a joint communique were signed on Monday. The letters were signed in presence of President Nazarbayev and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev arrived in Tehran Monday morning at the head of a high-ranking delegation to attend the summit of the Caspian Sea littoral states due to kick off here Tuesday.
The president and his entourage were welcomed at Tehran's Mehrabad International Airport by Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.
In addition to participating in the summit, President Nazarbayev is to discuss Tehran-Astana relations as well as their bilateral, regional and international cooperation in meetings with senior Iranian officials.
A letter of understanding on cooperation in the field of library and archiving historical records was signed by head of Iran National Library Ali Akbar Asha'ri and Kazakh Foreign Minister Marat Tazhin.
A letter of understanding on shipping and tourism cooperation in the Caspian Sea was signed by the Iranian and Kazakh foreign ministers.
The third letter of agreement was about sisterhood of Iranian port city of Amirabad and the Kazakh port city of Aktau.
Sisterhood of Iranian Bandar Anzali and the Kazakh port city of Aktau on the Caspian Sea was the fourth letter of understanding signed by the two sides.
The joint communique was signed by the two presidents.
