The eight-member astronomy Olympiad team of
the Islamic Republic of Iran gained the first place in "senior" level of the
twelfth students' Astronomy Olympiad by winning three gold and eight silver
medals.
Behzad Solatian, the PR manager of Young
Researcher's Club said to the science reporter of ISNA: Elahe Sadat Naqib,
Faraza Enayati and Seyed Amirsadat Mussavi managed to win gold medals, while
Arash Delijani, Ali Reza Eskandari, Anahita Khalilzadeh, Reza Montazeri Namin
and Seyed Ali Hamed Mussavian won silver medals in the international astronomy
Olympiad in Ukraine.
He added: Seyed Amirsadat Mussavi, besides
winning the gold medal, was able to acquire the highest mark of this competition
as well.

Solatian, describing the general rank of the
Iranian team in the twelfth astronomy students' Olympiad and said: Iran's team
gained the first place in the "senior" level and it is anticipated that it will
acquire the first place overall in both levels (less than 17 years and less than
15 years old). The results will be announced subsequently.
According to ISNA the astronomy Olympiad was
held from September 29 to October 7 (7 to 15 Mehr) in Ukraine.
The astronomy team of the Islamic Republic of
Iran, was able to win one gold, two silver and two bronze medals in the eleventh
students' astronomy Olympiad held last year in Aban [October] in Mumbai in
India, in which 80 students took part from 19 countries.
