TEHRAN, Oct. 21 (Mehr News Agency) -- The winners of Iran's first Cinéma Vérité Festival which took place in Tehran (October 15 to 20) were announced on Saturday night during a ceremony held at Tehran's Hejab Hall.
A total of 169 documentaries from Iran and 38 other countries were screened at the Felestin and Qiam cinema halls during the event.
At the beginning of the ceremony tribute was paid to six Iranian cinematic figures active in the genre of documentary filmmaking including Mahvash Sheikholeslami, Farshad Fadaian, Manuchehr Tayyab, Farhad Varahram, Farhad Mehranfar, and Piruz Kalantari.
The winners in the National Competition section are as follows:
In the Long Documentary Section, the documentaries "Lost Land" by Vahid Musaian and "Yesterday's Child of Imagination" by Delaram Karkheiran received honorary diplomas.
The Best Short Documentary Award went to "Power" by Mehrnaz Asadi.
The Best Researcher Awards went to Farzad Pajuheshgar, for his work on "Iran in Publicity" and Mohammadreza Abbasian for "Qana".
The Best Cinematographer Award went to Homayun Payvar for "M.D.M.A".
Keyvan Alimohammadi and Omid Bonakdar shared the Best Editing Award for "M.D.M.A".
Mohammadreza Aliqoli won the Best Sound Recordist Award for "Wild Life in Iran".
The Best Text Writer Award went to Sudabeh Mojaveri for "Inana".
Ehsan Kaffash and Mahmud Ramezani shared the Best Producer Award for "Yesterday's Child of Imagination".
The Special Jury Prize was not awarded.
In the International Section, the awards are as follows:
The Best Long Documentary Award went to "City of Photographers" by Sebastian Moreno from Chile.
The Best Short Doc Award went to "Mountain's Sad Song" by Hamed Khosravi from Iran.
Special Jury Prizes went to "To Where Do I Belong?" by Mahvash Sheikholeslami from Iran and "The Wall Restraining Water" by Antoine Botet from France.
Rakhshan Bani-Etemad and Manuchehr Tayyab were the Iranian jury members of the international section.
