Tahmineh Milani to try her hand at TV
TEHRAN, Oct. 24 (Mehr News Agency) -- In a change of attitude for the director who
had always expressed her aversion to television throughout her career, Tahmineh
Milani has signed a contract to make an AIDS-focused TV series for Islamic
Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).
“The importance of AIDS convinced me to agree to make the TV series,” she
told the Mehr News Agency on Tuesday.
Entitled “The Positive Pals Club”, the TV series will feature 13
independent plot lines.
“Cinema has a limited audience while a TV production enjoys millions of
viewers from a wide range of people,” Milani said in explanation of why she had
chosen the medium.
“AIDS is an issue that all people should be informed about and TV is the
best medium for this,” she added.
Iranian Research Center for HIV/AIDS Director Minu Mohraz is providing
consultation for the writing of the serial’s screenplays.
“The writing of the screenplays will come to an end by March 2008, and I
will begin shooting the project in April,” Milani said.
Milani recently applied for a screening license for her latest feature film
“The Reckoning” and is also working on another film entitled “Superstar”, which
is in the preproduction phase.
Her “Cease-Fire” earned over ten billion rials (about one million dollars)
and became a box-office hit in Iran in spring and summer
