China dismisses sanctions against Iran

Beijing, Oct 27, IRNA - A Chinese official on Saturday announced his country's opposition to imposing economic sanctions on Iran.

Chinese press quoted their Foreign Ministry Spokesman Liu Jianchao as saying that Beijing also believed that exerting pressures and imposing sanctions against Iran will not resolve any problem, but on the contrary will make settlement of remaining issues on Iran's nuclear case more complicated.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong-based Phonix news agency, on Friday and Saturday declared that foreign companies would not welcome the US unilateral sanctions against Iran.

Its New York-based reporter said that foreign institutes and companies would likely oppose the sanctions, and the US would receive a blow in this respect.

Chinese media have quoted Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini as saying that Iran considers the sanctions as defeated.

China is a veto-wielding member of the UN Security Council, and has always opposed the US extremist policy on Iran's nuclear activities.

Chinese leaders think negotiation is the best way to resolve disputes over Iranian nuclear program.
