International flights to use Tehran's IKIA aiport

TEHRAN, Oct. 28 (Mehr News Agency) - All international flights but five were launched at Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA), some 30km south of Tehran, as of Sunday.

Flights destined for Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Bombay, and Beijing have been excluded and the airliners operate from Mehrabad International Airport as before.

The news came as the IKIA Managing Director Gholamhossein Baqerian Saturday said foreign airlines will use the new airport from November 4.

He added that all Iranian airlines operating flights abroad were using IKIA from Sunday (October 28), AP reported.

Officials from Air France, Austrian Airlines, British Midland, and Lufthansa all also confirmed that their flights will be leaving from IKIA as of November 4.

"From November 4 all our flights will be leaving from IKIA," said a Lufthansa representative.
