During the opening ceremony, secretary of the event Manijeh Armin commented on the innovative quality of the work of the new generation of Iranian women potters. She added that there remains great untapped ability and that the art has a potentially bright future.

She went on to explain that in the selection of the best works the jury is looking for evidence of perseverance, originality and skill.

Armin also asked officials to support women's pottery so that the industry can expand and be a source of financial benefit.
