TEHRAN, Sept. 11 (Mehr News Agency) -- Digital copies of some of Iran's historical documents preserved in the United Kingdom's National Archives are to be digitally copied by Iranian experts.
The historical documents date back to the 19th and early 20th centuries and contain records of Iran's Constitutional Movement, MNA reported.
Researcher Majid Tafreshi said that the collection includes over three million papers, adding, "During the first stage of the operation, 50,000 items belonging to the 1905-1908 era are to be selected and digital copies of them will be made by a team of nine Iranian experts.
"The documents have been written in English and consist of British Embassy reports and the correspondence of British diplomats with Iranian cultural, religious, and military figures. They also include research works by reporters on Iran's climate, business, and the Iranian cost of living."
Tafreshi stated that one of the responsibilities of the National Library and Archives of Iran (NLAI) is the compilation of Iran's historical documents. The NLAI also plans to gather documents from the archives of other countries.
