TEHRAN, Sept. 11 (Mehr News Agency) -- The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran is determined to start a scientific movement in the field of nuclear medicine, and a special committee will be established through the cooperation of the AEOI, the Health Ministry, and the Majlis to work on the development of nuclear medicine, AEOI Director Gholamreza Aqazadeh said here on Tuesday.
A 40-megawatt heavy water research reactor is being built in Iran and over 15 tons of heavy water has been set aside for the purpose, Aqazadeh told reporters on the sidelines of a workshop on molybdenum-99/technetium-99m generators.
"Iran's nuclear activities will not be halted," he added.
According to the agreement between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency, the country's nuclear activities will return to the normal mode by January, he stated.
"In my opinion, if Western countries had really been honest about their previous stances, they should support Iran-IAEA negotiations so as to enable us to obtain clear results by continuing the talks in an atmosphere free of any political brouhaha," he added.
He went on to say that the Bushehr nuclear power plant is 95 percent complete.
