Moscow, Sept 12, IRNA - Russian President Vladimir Putin is to visit Iran on October 16 to attend the summit of the Caspian Sea littoral states, Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said in Moscow on Tuesday evening.
Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in the Russian capital city, the minister said in addition to participating in the summit, President Putin will discuss major issues, including all-out bilateral relations, with senior Iranian officials.
The Iranian minister is currently in Moscow at the head of an economic delegation to attend a session of Iran-Russia joint economic commission. The previous session was held in Tehran last year.
Russia's Atomic Energy Chief Sergei Kiriyenko will head the Russian delegation in the meeting.
Mottaki further told reporters that he would discuss "other bilateral and regional issues" with Kiriyenko.
He added that the two officials would make preparations for the upcoming visit to Tehran of the Russian president.
"We try to review all agreements reached in the past six months to go ahead with our program as scheduled," he said.
"We have formed a working committee in Tehran to follow up implementation of agreements inked in the sixth session of Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission," he said.
"We are to evaluate such cooperation in terms of political and economic fields," he underlined.
Iran and Russia are to study grounds for expansion of mutual cooperation, Mottaki said.
