President Ahmadinejad has accepted Professor Richard Nelson Frye's request to be buried near Zayande Rood in the Iranian city of Isfahan.

Upon receipt of a letter from the well-known American Iranologist, Professor Richard Nelson Frye, Iran's President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, issued instructions to Iran's interior minister to take the necessary steps to fulfill the scholar's request.

"Salutations to the pure, sacred land of Iran," Ahmadinejad wrote, adding, "Since the Iranian culture and civilization is based on the untainted human nature, it naturally attracts all the faith-enlightened hearts from different ethnic groups and countries."

"I admire the sincere, life-long efforts of this honorable professor in studying the precious ancient heritage of our country and wish him a long life and success in introducing Islamic culture to other nations," he added.

“This request is a sign of our two nations' belief in justice, monotheism and man's divinely inspired values, and I am positive that this honorable scholar is not the only one to have such feelings about Iran," he added.

"I, who have spent all my life on studying and teaching the glorious culture of ancient and Islamic Iran, request that my body be buried next to Zayande Rood in the beautiful city of Isfahan, the place I have admired and loved all my life, hoping that this would make for close ties between the two great nations of Iran and America," Professor Frye wrote in his letter.

Professor Frye is an American scholar of Iranian and Central Asian studies and a Professor Emeritus of Iranian studies at Harvard University. He has several books on Iran's history and culture to his name. He speaks fluent Persian, Arabic, Turkish, German, Russian and French and has traveled to Iran many times. Among his students was Annemarie Schimmel, the well known German Iranologist and orientalist.

He has chosen the title of 'Iran Lover' for himself to show his great interest in and love for Iran. He has also been praised as an honorary guest in the 19th Kharazmi festival for his life-long efforts to introduce Iranian culture and history to the world.
