TEHRAN Sept 16 (Mehr News Agency) - Former Iranian chief nuclear negotiator Hassan Rowhani will hold talks with EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana in Brussels on Thursday, Rowhani's office confirmed on Sunday. Rowhani also plans to address the European Parliament and hold talks with the EP speaker.
The visits are taking place at the invitation of Körber Foundation.
Rowhani will also address the German parliament on Wednesday and will discuss matters of mutual interest with German foreign minister, deputy chancellor, and the head of the German foreign policy committee.
Rowhani currently chairs the Expediency Council's Center for Strategic Affairs.
Mottaki also said Iran and Belgium have great potential for cooperation in energy sector and joint investment.
De Gucht was in Tehran to hail the release of a Belgian tourist who was held by drug traffickers in southeastern Iran for over a month.
Mottaki said that Iran has made great sacrifices in the fight against drug trafficking.
Unfortunately, he added, since the British forces took over the control of Afghanistan, there has been a dramatic rise in opium production in the war-torn country.
The Belgian foreign minister said that Iran has always been active in campaign against drugs smuggling, adding, "At the European Union, we have tried to appreciate Iran's role in this regard."
De Gucht confirmed that Belgium would contribute half a million euros ($692,550) to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to thank Iran for its role in fighting drug trafficking.
De Gucht also stated that the EU supports the recent Iran-IAEA agreements
