Larijani, Solana preparing for fresh talks

Tehran, Sept 18, IRNA - Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani and the EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana on Tuesday held telephone conversation in the run-up for fresh talks.

An official with the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) said that Larijani and Solana exchanged views on arrangements for fresh talks.

The two parties agreed to set date for the talks in early October.

Larijani pointed to the modality plan, as the fundamental measures Iran has adopted for comprehensive settlement of the dispute with the UN nuclear agency, saying that it had been outcome of his former talks with Solana.

"Of course, there are some unwarranted voices these days which can be interpreted as sabotage to the constructive way of doing things and a sort of blackmailing," Larijani said in his conversation with Solana.

Rowhani starts political talks with German leaders

Berlin, Sept 18, IRNA - Former Iranian chief nuclear negotiator Hassan Rowhani began here Tuesday his political talks with German leaders.

Rowhani, who is in Germany at the invitation of the Hamburg-based Koerber Foundation, was due to meet during the day with Christoph Heusgen, the foreign policy and national security advisor of Chancellor Angela Merkel.

On Wednesday, Rowhani will confer with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the chairman of the foreign affairs committee of the German parliament, Ruprecht Polenz.

According to the Iranian press, Rowhani will also hold talks with European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana in Brussels on Thursday.

There are also plans for Rowhani to address the European Parliament and meet with the EP speaker.

Rowhani chairs presently the Expediency Council's Center for Strategic Affairs.
