Baghdad, Sept 20, IRNA - Iranian embassy in Baghdad in a letter to Iraqi foreign ministry on Thursday strongly protested to the arrest of a memer of an Iranian trade delegation by the US forces in Soleimanyeh in northern Iraq.
The Iranian delegation from the neighboring Iranian province of Kermanshah was in Hotel Palace in the city when the US forces entered the hotel and arrested Farhadi a member of the delegation in charge of cross border commerce in Kermanshah's governor general office. The delegation came to Iraq on an official invitation by Soleimanyeh governor general through the official frontier point of Bashmagh-Panjvein on September 20.
Spokesman of Iranian foreign ministry Mohammad-Ali Hosseini in Tehran called it an aggressive act against the international conventions aimed at harming relations with Iraqi government and a blatant violation of the responsibilities of the occupying forces regarding the relations of the Iraqi govenrmnet with its neighbors.
He stressed that such a brazen act is indicative of the continued disturbing policy of the US to meddle in the affairs of the Iraqi government and the region.
